Tachycardia is a form of cardiac arrhythmia which refers to a rapid beating of the heart. Conventionally, the term refers to adult hearts beating at rates faster than 100 beats per minute.

Bradycardia is defined as a resting heart rate of under 60 beats per minute. Symptoms are not usually seen until the heart drops below 50 beats per minute.
*Of note, athletes tend to have slower than usual resting heart rates and should not be considered as having bradycardia.
